Tigers Join Elite Ranks by Clinching 500th Win

When the Wilkinsburg Tigers defeated Our Lady of Sacred Heart at Robert Morris University on Sept. 25, they won their 500th game in team history. Wilkinsburg is the 18th team in WPIAL history to win 500 games.
Following the game, Wilkinsburg players happily dumped a water cooler over the head of coach Ralph Brandon. When players returned to the high school, they were met with cheers from administrators and friends.
“Our players were hungry,” said Coach Brandon. “They were really hungry.”
To win the game, the Tigers rallied from a fourth-quarter 21-20 deficit. Perhaps the play of the game occurred when Wilkinsburg blocked a punt and recovered the ball at the OLSH 1-yard line. Quarterback Rasheed Howard then ran the ball for the go-ahead touchdown on the next play. From there, the Tigers’ stout defense sealed the win.
