Plant a Tree on Wallace Avenue November 8, 9 am to noon

by

We need your help! Join us for a street tree planting, sponsored by the Wilkinsburg Shade Tree Committee and Nine Mile Run Watershed Association. Volunteers will plant several trees on Wallace Avenue, between Coal and Wood streets, which includes the Wilkinsburg High School property.

Street trees benefit the community by providing beauty, shade and wildlife habitat, cleaning the air, and helping to control storm water, which is especially important in the Nine Mile Run watershed. Trees and green space have also been shown to improve mental and physical health and result in better education scores. So trees make you smarter.

Please wear sturdy boots and clothes that you won’t mind getting dirty! Refreshments will be provided.
