Movies Being Shown At South Ave. Methodist Church


These films will be shown at South Avenue United Methodist Church, 733 South Avenue in Wilkinsburg. Donations of $1 will be accepted. Popcorn and soft drinks will be served.

Tuesday, October 7, 1 p.m.

The Queen (2006).  An intimate behind-the-scenes glimpse of the interaction between Queen Elizabeth and Prime Minister Tony Blair following the death of Princess Diana. Their struggle was to reach a compromise between what was a private tragedy for the Royal family and the public’s demand for an overt display of mourning. It won Helen Mirren an Oscar and Golden Globe award for Best Actress.

Tuesday, November 4, 1 p.m.

The Paleface (1948).  Bob Hope is a cowardly dentist who hides behind the skirts of beautiful Calamity Jane, played by Jane Russell. This western comedy won an Oscar for Best Song: Buttons and Bows.

Tuesday, December 2, 1 p.m.

White Christmas (1954).  A series of romantic mix-ups occur when a pair of beautiful sisters travel to a Vermont lodge to perform their song-and-dance Christmas show. Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen star in this film.
